Background

For the last twelve years, I’ve been working as a senior school English language coach facilitating academic English for students from grades 9 till 12. I am also a freelance writer and have done a lot of online content writing for various agencies. I have a published poetry book to my credit by the name of “Castles of Reverie.” In eMaester, I finally found a job that allows me to balance my passion of teaching and English along with my home.

Life as an eMaester

eMaester changed my life drastically as it has opened up a new, exciting dimension of teaching English language to people from different age brackets and professions.
My family has adjusted well to my work profile. They know that the process of online teaching entails commitment and sincerity and thus allow me the space to conduct my classes in an unperturbed environment .They think that it’s a dignified, growth- oriented and promising job.

The Student Connect

I definitely think I have a good rapport with my students. Since most sessions are accomplished through Skype video calls, the interface is very interactive. The trainer can gauge the understanding level of the student by the promptness of his/ her responses. The doubts of the student are cleared as and when they arise. Since the sessions are one-to-one, they are deeply responsive. Also, I have been able to forge personal connections with my students as I make sure that my technique of teaching is friendly, amiable and empathetic.
When my student does well in the IELTS exam, it is a vindication of all the hard work that has been put up, by both the student and me. It’s an immensely gratifying experience to have your student call you up to share that the desired band score has finally been achieved by him/ her!

What does it take to be a Good eMaester?

A great IELTS trainer primarily needs to be knowledgeable regarding the course structure, content and format of the exam. One needs to be adept at handling all kinds of queries by students, ranging from questions about English Grammar to impactful writing skills. Fluency in English is a prerequisite and so is effective voice modulation. But the most important quality needed to be an IELTS teacher is to patient and motivating at all times.

What’s your favourite thing about being an eMaester?

What I like the most about this job is the flexibility it offers in terms of work timings. I can conduct classes according to the time slots that are convenient for me and at the same time, have the satisfaction of being productive and resourceful. I work in the realms of my most cherished space i.e. my home. I travel daily on the wings of technology and my impact lives through my knowledge and skills.

And of course, nothing can surpass the satisfaction of interacting so closely with students from such diverse cultural and professional scenarios!
